Hever Castle
The wedding was held close by to this magnificent castle! There was a jousting tournament held here the day after the wedding. The castle was Anne Boleyn's childhood residence. Who was she??? What facts can you find out about her or her husband. Find out and leave your answer in the comment box.

ReplyDeleteAnne Boleyn was Queen of England from 1533 to 1536 as the second wife of King Henry VIII. She gave birth to Elizabeth I of England. King Henry however wanted a boy, but after three miscarriages, King Henry began to court another woman (Jane Seymour) and to get rid of Anne, he accused her of treason and other disloyalties and then he had her beheaded.

Anne Boleyn (pronounced /ˈbʊlɪn/ or /bʊˈlɪn/[2]; (c.1501/1507 – 19 May 1536) was Queen of England from 1533 to 1536 as the second wife of King Henry VIII and 1st Marquess of Pembroke in her own right for herself and her descendants.[3] Henry's marriage to Anne, and her subsequent execution, made her a key figure in the political and religious upheaval that was the start of the English Reformation. The daughter of Sir Thomas Boleyn and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Howard, Anne was educated in the Netherlands and France, largely as a maid of honour to Queen Claude of France. She returned to England in early 1522, in order to marry her Irish cousin James Butler; however, the marriage plans ended in failure and she secured a post at court as maid of honour to Queen consort Catherine of Aragon.austin

She resisted all his attempts to seduce her, refusing to become his mistress as her sister, Mary Boleyn, had. It soon became the one absorbing object of Henry's desires to annul his marriage to Queen Catherine, so he would be free to marry Anne.connor

Anne Boleyn was the Queen of England from 1533-1536. She was King Henry VIII 2nd wife (of 6). Henry wanted a male as the next heir however Anne's first child was a female-Elizabeth the first. Three more girls followed. Henry had Anne investigated for high treason (meaning 'criminal disloyalty to one's monarch or country) on April-May 1536. She was arrested on May 2nd and taken to the Tower of London for a trial. She was found guilty and beheaded on the Tower Green on May 19th.
